Meet Zayden,
a student who joined our 5-Day Jumpstart, part of our APM® Education Project, to work on the challenges his family faced.
Zayden’s parents worried about his safety — especially his rush towards lifts — and the tantrums when he didn’t get his way. Over a five-day APM® intensive at AP Singapore, we worked on the everyday skills to help Zayden, and his family, navigate these moments.

About Zayden
Zayden is a 4-year-8-month-old boy who loves lifts. His parents shared two main concerns: his safety — especially his tendency to run towards lifts — and his tantrums, particularly in public when he doesn’t get what he wants.
To help Zayden and his family, our team built a focused 5-day Jumpstart, part of our APM® Education Project, around three goals:
Zayden’s 5-day Jumpstart program
Zayden’s program focused on three everyday goals — each taught directly, step by step, to help him and his parents navigate the challenges they shared.
Learning to wait
Zayden tended to rush towards what he wanted, with little patience to wait. Learning to wait is a crucial, everyday skill — so we taught it directly.
Asking for what he wants
Rather than rushing off or melting down to get what he wanted, Zayden learned to communicate his desires clearly and appropriately. Our “Tagging” and “Go There” program taught him to show us where he wanted to go — keeping him safe at the same time.
Tolerating “no”
Zayden had tantrums when his requests were denied. We helped him tolerate denied requests and stay calm — and his parents share their reflections in an exit interview.
