Deciding when your child is ready for school can be exciting—but also stressful—especially for parents of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Questions like “Will my child adapt to a classroom?” or “Is my child ready for school?” are common and understandable.
School readiness goes far beyond academics. It encompasses the skills children need to engage, interact, and thrive in a classroom. For children with autism, preparing for school often requires targeted support in key areas to ensure a positive and successful school experience.
During this workshop, participants will gain insight into the two critical school readiness skills for children with ASD:
✅ Learning-to-Learn Skills
Developing persistence, attention, problem-solving, and organizational skills that help children engage effectively in structured learning environments. These skills enable children to pursue, sustain, and direct their own learning both individually and in groups.
✅ Social Skills
Fostering social interest, awareness, and communication abilities to help children form friendships, handle conflict, and navigate the social world of school successfully. Practical strategies for teaching social skills in a safe and meaningful environment will also be discussed.
