Autism Treatment: Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
ABA is a high-quality treatment approach for Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). It is based on more than 60 years of scientific research and effective clinical practice. ABA is the most widely recognized and scientifically proven treatment for ASD.
ABA uses an understanding of why behavior occurs to address a wide range of social issues, including helping individuals to learn. It uses laws of behavior that have been experimentally demonstrated, and it uses clearly defined procedures to specify how to change behavior. The primary focus of ABA is on behavior that is important to individuals, in terms of enabling them to lead more fulfilling lives.

A method backed by promising results – APM™ focuses on:
- Developing strong and natural reinforcers so that learning can easily transfer to the real world.
- Helping children so that they learn not only in 1:1 situations, but in small and large groups
- Helping children learn in natural settings, that includes the types of distractions that occur in schools and the community.
- Focusing on the whole child: not only is communication and academics important but teaching children all the skills they need to develop meaningful and long-lasting relationships. This includes developing social and play skills.
- Teaching children the skills that will allow them to become truly independent. Learning how to monitor their own behaviors is essential for maximizing quality of life.
- Recognizing the need to provide counseling services for children, siblings and parents.
- Providing therapy in natural forms so that children develop natural language and are able to engage with the natural world.
- Training parents, teachers, and family members the necessary skills so that they can facilitate success
APM™ ABA Therapy Programs
Our Students' Journey: Jamie's Case Study
Jamie was 2 years and 10 months old when he started ABA therapy at AP Singapore.
Before receiving ABA intervention, his parents shared that he only used his words to communicate very sparingly. Even though he knew some words, he often grabbed their arm or took them to something he wanted without making eye contact.
Although Jamie was generally able to listen to his parents, he would cry and have meltdowns daily, especially when his requests were denied. This was a concern for parents. Jamie only liked playing with his older brother and parents but not his younger sister and peers. He would often push them away and scream when they approached him
In this special 1-year recap, we review Jamie’s progress in the last 12 months, including various programs we have taught him to equip him with the essential foundation skills he needs.
Watch how our team concentrates its efforts, utilizing our Autism Partnership Method to teach Jamie essential skills that can truly enhance his learning ability including:
- Behavior Management: From addressing his disruptive and interfering behaviors to building a strong behavioral foundation.
- Critical Foundational Skills: Our team focused on teaching Jamie critical skills such as emotional regulation, communication, self-help, social, and play skills.
- Learning-how-to-learn Skills: More importantly, we have also taught Jamie “learning how to learn” skills which are often underemphasized in treatment and education, as many take for granted that children know how to learn (or will acquire it on their own), but that is not always the case. By teaching Jamie these valuable skills, we can help him be truly independent.
- Social Interest & Social Skills: We constantly expose Jamie and all the children who come through our doors at AP to socialization and move them to group learning as soon as they are ready. In this video, you will see Jamie gradually initiate socialization, and play, and move from 1:1 therapy to learning in groups. These are all building blocks to ensure that we can help Jamie be ready for school.

We offer 3 variations of APM™ Intensive Early Intervention Program (EIP) Treatment Plan. The program is designed for children aged 6 and below. Session hours range from 15 to 30 hours a week. Witness firsthand the profound transformation our children have experienced in our APM program.
